Richmond Dive Club – August 2022 Membership Meeting

Meeting held at O’Toole’s Restaurant and Pub Forest Hill Ave. Richmond and Virtually via Zoom.

Club President, Jim Dacey began the meeting at 6:58 pm.

SWAP MEET

  • Jim discussed the scuba gear swap meet being held in the back meeting room of O’Toole’s beginning at 6 pm.

DIVE DESTINATIONS

  • Jim asked members about any recent trips.
  • Members discussed dive trips taken to the following locations:    
          Cold water wrecks out of Minnesota

          Cozumel

          Carolina Beach Shark Tooth Diving


          An Open Water Certification in the Philippines


          An upcoming trip to dive in Ireland

DIVER DAYS

  • Discussed the dates of RDC Diver Days for 2022.
       o   Wednesday, 8/10
       o   Sunday, 8/28
       o   Sunday, 9/18

Board Members Needed For Next Year

  •  Jim discussed the next for new members to step up to take on BOD roles for next year.
  • The following positions will need to be filled as the incumbents will not be able to continue after this term ends.
       o   President
       o   Vice President
       o   Treasurer
       o   Secretary
  • Existing BOD is willing to assist those who are willing to take on a role in the Club’s leadership.

5-MINUTE TIPS FROM FLUVANNA DIVE CENTER

  • Larry gave a 5-minute talk on
        o   How to boat dive
        o   What to bring on the boat
        o   Boat diving etiquette

Business meeting ended at 7:20 pm.

PRESENTATION         Diver Safety and Specialized Safety Equipment

       o   Scott Oldmixon, of Tri-City Scuba, gave a very informative presentation on items such as always learning, becoming                       AOW or Rescue Diver certified, practicing with your safety equipment, using a SMB and hand signals.

Presentation ended at 8:45 pm.

The next meeting will be held on September 13, 2022, at O’Toole’s Restaurant and Pub at 7 pm, with the meeting also broadcast virtually on Zoom.
